Implants

Implants are a great way to restore the natural look and function when teeth are missing. A titanium post (implant) is placed into the jaw and following a suitable healing period a tooth coloured and shaped crown can be attached to the post, providing a stable long term restoration. Dentures can also be fitted to several anchoring implants to secure loose or uncomfortable dentures. Implants can be used to replace a missing single tooth or right up to the whole dentition.

Root Canal Treatment

Decay in your teeth or trauma to the tooth can affect the nerve within the tooth, making it necessary to remove the nerve and sterilize the nerve canal to save the tooth. The nerve is replaced with a filling material and sealed in a process called root canal treatment. The process is usually carried out over a number of appointments to ensure all harmful bacteria are removed.

Tooth Whitening

In surgery tooth whitening is a safe and quick way to enhance your smile.  Prior to a tooth whitening procedure a thorough examination and teeth cleaning is performed to remove tartar and superficial staining. The in surgery Zoom technique takes about one and a half hours and then usually a take home ‘top up’ kit is provided. In surgery whitening is recommended as it is carried out by a trained operator in a controlled and safe environment.

Dental hygienists are specially trained to work as part of the dental team.  They play an important part in dental health care and are mainly concerned with preventative dental health and treating gum disease. Hygienist will professionally clean your teeth by removing plaque and tartar and  show you the best way to keep your teeth clean.

Hygienist can also take dental x-rays, place fissure sealants, apply fluoride to the teeth, take impressions and perform tooth whitening procedures.  Dental hygienists form an important part of the dental team.

Dental therapists examine and treat diseases of the teeth in pre-school, primary and secondary school children, under the general supervision of a dentist. The dentistry work performed is varied from identifying the disease risk of the child, providing professionally applied preventive treatments, carrying out simple restorative work in deciduous and permanent teeth, through to the extraction of teeth under local anaesthetic, and the initial management of trauma.

Dentures

Dentures or ‘false teeth’ are made of either acrylic or a stronger metal alloy.  They are cost effective and removable. A full denture replaces all the natural teeth and a partial denture replaces a few missing teeth but retains some of your natural teeth.

Dental Services

Mouthguards

Dental injuries while playing sport can be painful and disfiguring. They can be largely avoided by wearing a custom made and fitted mouthguard. Mouthguards work by effectively reducing the impact of a blow to the face that would potentially cause oral injury. A tailor made mouthguard fits comfortably and precisely around the teeth and gums providing a tight fit that doesn’t impede speech or breathing and won’t fall out.

Dental Services

Nightguard

Clenching or grinding the teeth at night while asleep is known as bruxism. Bruxism can cause teeth to wear and crack but can also cause severe facial, tooth and jaw pain and headaches.  An occlusal splint or nightguard is a custom made removable appliance worn at night to relieve the pressure transferred to the teeth when clenching or grinding.  It also offers relief for the jaw muscles and protects the teeth from wear and breakage

Dental Services

Anti Snoring Appliance

Snoring is caused by the soft tissue at the back of the throat vibrating when breathing while you are asleep.  During sleep the throat relaxes and the airway becomes smaller, restricting airflow which causes the vibrations.

An anti snoring appliance is tailor made to fit  the teeth and this holds the lower jaw and tongue forward, this tightens the soft tissues to reduce the obstruction to the airways and this helps eliminate or reduce the snoring.

Dental Services

Nitrous Oxide

To ensure your comfort during procedures we use local anaesthetic however if you are still concerned and anxious about treatment we offer nitrous oxide sedation also known as ‘laughing gas’ to help you relax.
